The Azar award is named after Dr. Henry Azar, founder and charter member of our society. The granting of this award is based on the submission
of a United States Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) formatted abstract. The winner(s) will be asked to make a short 10-minute in person presentation at our annual seminar on the companion meeting day of USCAP which usually is on the day before the general USCAP meeting.
USCAP has expanded its abstract categories. As of the 2026 Meeting abstracts for the History of Pathology and the Azar Award should be submitted like any other USCAP abstract. The deadline for abstract submissions is October 7, 2025, 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern time.
The submission for the History of Pathology includes abstracts based on scientific discovery, epidemiology, or discipline of pathology development through a historic lens. These can include the characterization of an entity or disease, the discovery of a diagnostic tool and the development of an academic institution, public health issue or event. The topic needs to be directly related to the discipline of pathology.
